Shri. B.S. Shinde joined Mumbai Port Trust on 06.06.2015 as Railway Manager. After taking over the charge of Railway Division, Traffic Department, he has streamlined Railway Operations effectively within a span of about 3-4 months with his rich experience of 25 years in Haldia Dock Complex, Kolkata Port Trust in handling of various cargoes including dangerous petroleum products of PSU Oil Company refineries including exports to Nepal and Bangladesh. He has record handling of Rail borne cargo of 22 MMT to his credit at Haldia.

He has tactful handling skills of Industrial Relations with Port Rly Users, Trade Unions & Boundary Management.He is B.Sc. (Hons.) in Chemistry with Post Graduation in Business Administration with specialization in Marketing and Production.

He has joined the Port Sector as Management Trainee, Shyamaprasad Mukherjee Port Authority (Erstwhile Kolkata Port Trust) on 01.01.1991.After successful completion of Training at IIPM, Kolkata, he joined as Traffic Officer under Haldia Dock Complex (HDC), Kolkata Port Trust (KoPT) effective January 1992. He worked in various capacities till June 2015. He has wide experience in Port Railway Operations, Commercial, Establishment, handling bulk cargoes, containers etc. After joining HDC / KoPT in January 1991, he has also acquired additional qualification by passing one year Diploma Course on “Multimodal Transport (Containersation) and Logistics Management” organized by the Institute of Rail Transport of India, New Delhi.

He has also attended various Training programmes arranged by IIM, Ahmedabad on “Strategic Port Management” and Indian Institute of Foreign Trade in collaboration with IPA, New Delhi on “Global Trade Scenario”. Shri Shinde has taken over the additional charge of Traffic Manager(I/c.) on 16.01.2023 and subsequently assumed charge of “Traffic Manager” on 06.02.2023.
